Linda Bellos

Linda Bellos is the founding Director of Diversity Solutions, a company she formed in February 2002. She brings to the company several decades of experience in the field of equality and diversity. Since the early eighties, Linda has worked with the commercial, public and voluntary sectors, advising on change management and policy formulation.

Linda worked with Caroline Jones to design and develop the software and content of editsOTS online training courses. She is responsible for conceptualising this revolutionary approach to delivering equality and diversity training. EditsOTS is the cornerstone of the company’s philosophy of making high quality services accessible to everyone.

Linda was the first Black woman to join the Spare Rib feminist collective in 1981. She was vice-chair of the campaign to select Black candidates within the Labour Party. She was elected Leader of Lambeth Council in 1986, one of the first Black women to gain such a position.

As chair of the London Strategic Policy Unit in the mid 1980’s, Linda introduced Black History Month. This event is now a highlight of the annual calendar, and is celebrated across the UK.

Linda is a regular guest contributor to radio and television programmes. As an author, she has contributed to a number of anthologies including IC3, the Penguin Book of New Black Writing in Britain.

Linda’s work on mainstreaming equality and diversity within the British Army and the Metropolitan Police Service gives her a keen insight into some of the UK’s major institutions. She uses this to benefit other public authorities. She is an Independent Advisor to the Metropolitan Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Association of Chief Police Officers, and acts in a scrutiny role on equality and diversity issues for a number of public bodies.

Linda Bellos retains an active involvement in the voluntary and community sector which ensures that her work remains relevant to grass roots communities.
